WHAT A WEEK!!! The VBS fog is starting to lift and it is such a joy to look back and reflect on the amazing week we had together. The Friday Night Family Fun Night was great – thank you to the multitudes that turned out for the grand finale. What a party!

The food pantry was also a great success. Not only did the children fill the pantry, but it was over flowing with food. WOW! The children really put their faith into action and gave happily to God (“Shake it Up!”).

Believe it or not, we are already starting to look to next year. We were maxed out this year at 150 children and 76 volunteers. Our hope is to be able to look at how we can fit additional children rather than turning anyone away (check out the article in TCPalm). We are always working hard to improve each year and better meet the needs of our community and their children. We would love to hear from you and your children about what they liked, what could be improved upon or suggestions for next year. One hope for next year ….online registrations! Yahooo! This website has been a great tool to communicate lots of information to lots of people and fast. A new site (similar to this one) will be developed for our children’s ministry at the church. It will include Sunday school schedules, summer fun ideas, family activities and ideas for family gatherings like Minute to Win It or game night…would love your suggestions while it is in the beginning stages. Coming Soon! J

Day 2 = Super Fun!

Another great day at VBS! Today we learned "Give Happily to God".

A few reminders for tomorrow:

Our offering challenge is to fill our  temporary pantry that has been set up for VBS week with non perishable food items. Our church is a storage and prep facility for the new Jupiter food pantry. The food collected will go to our food pantry room where it will be sorted and bagged and sent over to the pantry. The children are truly putting their lesson from today (give happily to God) in action as they help to feed other families right here in our own town. Take a moment tonight over dinner to ask your child about the food pantry tour they took this morning.

The food items brought in each morning is collected during the singing time every morning. Peanut butter is one of the items that is always in high demand. Good news...it's buy 1 get 1 free right now at Publix through this Wednesday, June 14th. It's truly awesome to see the children stocking the pantry while singing Awesome God!

The cup they made today in the craft center was designed to collect loose change that they can use to Give Happily to God in a way they feel called to serve (i.e. Sunday morning offering, buying canned goods for the local pantry, and/or to help purchasing school supplies for someone in need).

Name Tags:

If you accidentally took your name tag home, could you please bring it back tomorrow when you come. We are always happy to make you another name tag as needed; however, we do not have enough of the daily secret ingredient cards (which is attached to most name tags) to give out more to everyone. Thank you for your help with the name tags!!

Don't forget to sign up for all the Friday night fun! There will be pizza, snacks, a cookie decorating station, science experiments, bounce houses, crafts on display and a short presentation from the children. Don't Miss Out!!

Be Ready for God - Shake It Up!

Give Happily to God - Shake It Up!

Day 1 of VBS = AWESOME!!

Our first day was a GREAT DAY!! We were so excited to meet each and every one of you! Today we learned to

“BE READY FOR GOD…SHAKE IT UP!”

Try saying, “Be ready for God!” to you children and see if they respond. It should be a fun challenge as well as a way to baffle them that you know the daily praise phrase from VBS.

A few reminders for a successful week:

Please wait to pick up your child until they are seated in the pews in the sanctuary. It helps our group leaders make sure each child is safe and secure and that they are being picked up by the appropriate adult.

Our Bouncing Bananas and Kooky Kiwis will be meeting in the music center every morning rather than the Fellowship Hall. We are hoping that this “quiet” room will be a better transition from Mom and Dad rather than the louder room with all the other children. When ready, they will transition them into the music and singing with the rest of the children. We tend to get loud and raise the roof first thing in the morning so it can be overwhelming for our younger participants. We will have a sign up in the morning to help you find the music center.

We are truly a team, so if you see something that can be improved upon, please share your thoughts with us so we can make it a safe and fun experience for everyone.

Registration is Officially Closed

Extra, Extra…read all about it….

Our VBS registration is officially closed! We are at max capacity with 151 children and 76 volunteers. WOW! I wish we could have everyone but unfortunately we are limited on supplies and space. As always, we will look at more possibilities for next year in order to make it possible for more friends to join us on this wild adventure.

 It is sure to be a great week and we are really looking forward to meeting all of you in person!!

2 Week Countdown!

I can hardly believe that we only have 2 weeks until this year's Vacation Bible School - WOW!! Please check this site regularly for updates and information about our exciting week together. We are hoping that this site will help us be more efficient in communicating the schedule as well as last minute reminders and updates for what to expect.

 

As of 5/31/11 we have 106 children registered and 60 volunteers. WOW! Can't wait to get cookin'!
